Study Abroad

Studying in Europe can change a life, if the route is real, the programme fits, and the paperwork is honest. NVConsult is Czechia-first: this page summarises the Czech study route, what it costs depending on the language of your programme, and what you need to prepare before you apply.

The Czechia study route at a glance

The standard route is long-term residence for the purpose of study, granted to students admitted to a study programme in Czechia. Programmes taught in Czech at public universities are tuition-free. Programmes taught in English charge tuition fees, set by each university. Students may work part-time alongside their studies, and after graduation, graduates may apply to stay in Czechia and seek employment, in general terms.

Czech-taught or English-taught?

  • Czech-taught programmes at public universities: tuition-free, but you study in Czech, so language preparation comes first.
  • English-taught programmes: tuition fees apply and vary by university and programme.
  • Either way, you need admission first. Residence for study follows the study place, not the other way round.

What to prepare

  • Admission: an application to a Czech university and confirmation of your study place.
  • Recognition of education: your previous schooling or degree may need recognition (nostrification), in general terms, so Czech institutions can confirm it is comparable.
  • Funds: proof, in general terms, that you can support yourself during your studies.
  • Accommodation: proof of where you will live in Czechia.
  • Documents: a valid passport, photographs and a completed application, always check the current list on the official portal, ipc.gov.cz.

After graduation

Graduating in Czechia does not have to mean leaving immediately. In general terms, graduates may apply to stay and seek employment in Czechia after their studies. Plan that step before your student residence ends, and keep your documents and deadlines in order.
